Art of Coaching Academy

The Art of Coaching Academy includes courses that are designed to build coaching capacity. We believe that by building individual and agency coaching skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills improve. Individuals and teams are more connected and work together better to achieve goals and outcomes. Organizational morale also improves.

The Art of Coaching courses are built upon the following values and beliefs:

  • Being present in the company of others is essential to create trust and build relationships.

  • Coaches display coaching qualities and the coaching mindset in all interactions.

  • Curiosity, listening, and powerful questions are foundational elements of coaching.

  • Relationships and how you interact with others, matters.

The leadership principles are in line with the Core Practice Model (CPM).

Day 1 introduces participants to the primary knowledge required to support the practice of coaching. In addition, participants are introduced to a coaching framework that is comprised of 5 Stages:

Course: Cultural Humility and The Art of Coaching

This training is appropriate for Supervisors, Managers and Directors who have completed the 3-day Art of Coaching (AoC) in Child Welfare training. The focus of this one-day training is to create an environment that is safe to share diversity of beliefs, opinions, and experiences that impact decision-making. Using the coaching framework, participants will explore self-reflection and self-critique as a way of respecting different point of views and engaging with others authentically and from a place of learning. As a result, the training will help to build capacity in leaders to more effectively and sensitively address issues of culture and bias during coaching sessions.

Important to the discussion is the expansion of the definition of culture to include a myriad of social categories including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, physical disability, etc. In addition, skills for becoming more self-aware, identifying implicit and explicit bias, and understanding the power of language will be discussed.

As a result participants will:

  • Work from a position of humility by being curious, open to cultural differences and self-reflection.

  • Have a broader lens in acceptance of attitudes, traditions, and thought processes of others.

  • Reduce the level of discomfort, anxiety and fear when working through conflicts involving persons who are culturally different.
